Pretty Polly is a British heritage name, and the Nylons Gloss revives the retro shiny-nylon look — think vintage pin-up rather than modern matte. At $15 it is a fun throwback. We tested whether the shine flatters or dates.
We tested the natural pair in size M. The Nylons Gloss is a glossy sheer tight with a shiny nylon finish, a standard waistband and a reinforced toe. Pretty Polly markets it for retro and party looks, so we wore it with a pencil skirt and with a vintage dress.
The shine is real and deliberate — a wet-look gloss that catches light, very different from today's matte norm. With a pencil skirt and heels it reads glamorously retro; in broad daylight it can tip toward costume. The trick is occasion: evening and styled vintage outfits love it, casual daytime does not.
The nylon finish feels smoother and a touch slicker than cotton-blend sheers, and the 15–20D ground is a clean semi-sheer. The waistband is basic but comfortable for an evening. It does not breathe like a cotton blend, so we would not wear it for a full hot day.
Pretty Polly uses standard dress sizing; the M fit our 5'6" tester with minor ankle slack. The gloss weave has average give, so follow the size chart and avoid sizing down. The reinforced toe helps with open shoes.
For $15 it wore fine across a few evening outings. The gloss finish shows snags more readily than matte, so treat it kindly and hand-wash. At this price it is a fun occasional pick rather than a daily driver.
At $15 the Nylons Gloss is a cheap way to add a retro statement to the drawer. Buy it for the look, not for everyday wear, and it is money well spent.
Best for evenings and vintage-styled outfits when you want a deliberate shine. A fun occasional pick, not an everyday tight.
