European hosiery is often cheaper and better made than what you find locally — but not every brand will ship to you. Below is what we have observed across the brands we review. Policies change often, so always confirm on the brand's own site before ordering.

Brands that generally ship widely

Wolford and Falke run their own international stores with region-specific pricing, so you usually order from a localised site rather than the Austrian or German one. Calzedonia ships across much of Europe and to selected markets outside it. Spanx and Snag Tights both ship from the US and UK respectively with worldwide options.

Charnos, Pretty Polley and What Katie Did are UK-based. Since Brexit, EU customers should expect possible import charges, and rest-of-world buyers should check whether the brand still ships to their country.

Brands that may need a forwarder

Smaller Italian and Polish makers — Oroblu, Trasparenze, Fiore, Glamory, Cecilia de Rafael — often ship within the EU only. If you are outside it, a parcel forwarder in Germany, Italy or the UK usually solves this. Budget for the forwarder fee plus your country's import threshold.

Three things to check before you order

1. Duty threshold. Every country has a value below which imports are tax-free. Above it you pay duty and handling, which can wipe out the savings.

2. Sizing standard. European brands size by height and weight, US brands by dress size, Japanese brands run shorter in the leg. Check our size guide before buying.

3. Returns. Hosiery is usually non-returnable once opened for hygiene reasons. Order one pair first, then commit to a multipack.

Bottom line

Start with brands that run a localised store in your region — you pay more per pair but avoid duty surprises. Use a forwarder only once you already know your size in that brand. And order a single pair before buying three.
